Recently I signed up to an online backgammon site, it was one of those sites where I could either play for fun or I could play for money.

It was easy once downloaded the software, then it took only a couple more minutes to get me started. I began by exploring the site checking out the rules and the tips and hints about the game, some of the players had profiles there were some that even had pictures attached to them, and a brief description about themselves. What I found was there was good cross section of players from all over the world who loved to play backgammon.
As I wondered through the various sections I began to pick up more and more information about the game and the sort of people who played it. It was odd but I felt nervous about going into the actual games room, I dont know why, I suppose because I thought I would immediately expose myself as a total novice and become embarrassed by my lack of ability, but I was not alone there were hundreds of players already registered, so I just looked for a comparable player among the dozens of names on the screen in front of me.
I switched to the chat facility and began to engage in typed conversation with my opponent, whose name was Alex, he rolled first and moved his pieces. I followed the etiquette of the game not indulging in any conversation that related to the movement; rather I tried to engage in more conversational topics, like where did you come from what did you do that sort of thing.
The reply came back as USA, and I am a Nurse. Your turn A male nurse I thought, unusual I rolled the dice via the mouse and the dice rolled out a two and a five, I hesitated as I moved the pieces. .Your new to this arent you came the typed reply. Dont worry just play how you want to, most guys get nervous?
This typed conversation was getting to say the least odd; the phrases he used seemed a little strange. Most guys? I moved my pieces slowly and waited.
The next few words were to change the game entirely for me
